Restaurant Review – Lime Tree Cafe

If you’re looking for a place to just sit down and relax whilst enjoying the comforts of fresh rustic food and friendly service then lime tree cafe is most definitely the place to be. Hidden beneath the bustling roads of Jumeirah is this jewel of a place where a “one time visit” is nearly next to impossible.

What sets this apart from the rest is its daily special that are freshly prepared and displayed on their shelves in abundance. What we love most is their variety of food and friendly and hospitable service. You will never fall short of options; from something as simple as homely sandwiches to their gourmet baked risotto cakes, you name it and it’s there! If savory isn’t your cup of tea, you will be amazed by the variety of cakes, tarts and other mouth watering delicacies they have to offer.

They’ve got a list of coffees frappes and coolers to choose from. Our all time favorites are the lime tree Virgin Mary (Tomato juice, drop of Worchester sauce and a dash of tobasco) and the lime tree Mint Cooler (Fresh mint muddled with lime and soda). Top tip, ordering an extra dose of tobasco for the Virgin Mary goes a long way. Even the little details like including a shot of sugar syrup alongside for the mint cooler to cater to our liking made us love the place even more.

Even though we’re not much of salad-fanatics we ordered a beetroot, fennel and apple slaw with walnuts. We loved how the apple was not poached but al dente which in turn added to the texture of the salad and complemented the flavor of the beetroot.

This definitely not just an ordinary store bought regular quiche, what we loved was the perfect ratio of egg mixture to potato and also the sweetness of the caramelized onions that cut through the quiche.

Even though lime tree café is know for their legendary carrot cake, being a sucker for salted caramel, we just had to opt for the chocolate fudge cake with gooey salted caramel. Presented with white chocolate shavings, the texture of the caramel complimented the richness of the chocolate fudge very well. Just a slice of  this cake with a hot cup of coffee would definitely make the trip to Lime Tree worthwhile.
