Ever since its launch a few weeks back we’ve been longing to do an official review of G’s and it’s finally time! What we’ve noticed in Jumeirah Lakes Towers is that there exists a large number of restaurants and coffee shops but very few bakeries. And since one of us work in the vicinity, G’s was as good as god-sent to us.
To start off, let us paint a picture for you of what G’s is like. The moment you enter G’s you’ll be captivated by the aura of freshly baked Croissants, Danish Pastries, Sandwiches, Cakes and a lot more all prepared fresh out of the oven for you to enjoy. Having met the owner himself, Mr. Ginny, he was kind enough to give us a tour of the kitchen and demonstrated their dedication to the freshness and quality of the food produced which marvels with the greats of any other bakery in town.
Once you enter G’s you’re rest assured to be greeted in the most cheerful way by at least 2 to 3 servers with the widest of smiles (Our favorite is Esther, the store manager). When you look around the bakery, you’ll be amazed by the products they have to offer, from freshly baked breads to a customized selection of cakes, they’ve got it all.
They sell their customized cakes at Dhs185 per kg, no matter how intricate the design, which we feel is a STEAL when you compare it to the prices of most customized cake shops these days. (They have also founded a campaign “Cupcake for a Cause” where a cupcake is donated to a child for every 8 inch cake you purchase)
It terms of beverages, their options are as good as any coffee shop you’ll go to. But what we loved the most was the quantity they served us. A Small cup of Hot Chocolate at G’s would in most restaurants or cafés qualify as a Large, and for Dhs12 it’s definitely worth it.
It terms of food, they’ve got a list of options lined up like Individual Stone Oven Baked Pizzas, Sandwiches, Puffs and Pastries, Quiches, Biscuits, Tarts, Cakes, Cupcakes and their very own version of a Cronut – their very own Dossant (hybrid of a croissant and donut).
We tried the Raspberry Sacher which was heaven! No wonder its one of their bestselling cakes. The raspberries cut through the richness of the chocolate cake which in turn did not make it seem too heavy.
We obviously had to try the Dossant and we opted for the Caramel Dossant which was delightful. The caramel custard filling had the right proportion of caramel incorporated into it so it didn’t taste too rich.
We also tried the Beef Hotdog Lattice and Chicken Quiche. The hotdog was hands down the best we’ve had in a long long time! The quiche was flavorful and filling too, but if we had to pick a favorite, it had to be that hotdog!
Even though we couldn’t have another bite, we couldn’t just leave without trying their cupcakes. So we picked up a Salted Caramel & Banana Split (Best Seller) to go. They were to say the least, YUM!
We don’t see what could stop us from visiting G’s every day. It’s affordable, it’s welcoming and it’s delicious. We just hope they open another outlet soon near Downtown Dubai or Oud Metha so it could be easily accessible to everyone.
