We decided for this week’s review to visit one of the restaurants located in City Walk Jumeirah (which seems to be the latest hotspot for Dubai residents and tourists these days). And we thought to ourselves, what better way to kick start our “City Walk journey” than to review what we feel is most definitely the must-visit restaurant out there – Mo’s.
We entered Mo’s only to discover a set up that is simple yet so chic. We loved how the restaurant wasn’t too cramped up but evenly spaced out and the warm color tones that highlighted the wooden flooring and dark furniture really shouted out opulent yet understated.
We were greeted by what we would consider one of the friendliest staff we’ve ever come across. They were nice enough to take us on a tour around Mo’s so we could decide for ourselves as to where we would like to be seated.
When we glanced through the menu we were completely overwhelmed with the options available to choose from. They’re quite famous for their milkshakes and honestly, going through their list of milkshakes made us feel like children again. It was impossible to decide what we preferred most and thanks to our server who pointed out that their best seller is definitely the Date Milkshake, we didn’t think twice before ordering it for us. Thick luscious vanilla milkshake blended with crushed up dates topped with the smoothest whipped cream literally transported us to Milkshake-Heaven!
(We could devour this for breakfast, lunch AND dinner without complaining – no jokes)
Fancy a challenge? Feel like taming your inner ManVsFood? Well Mo’s happens to have an incredible sundae challenge. All you have to do is devour their Party Sundae, which comprises of 8 scoops of ice cream, four bananas, brownies, caramel sauce, fudge, toasted almonds, chocolate sprinkles & 8 maraschino cherries topped with whipped cream in under 30 minutes and its free along with a tee-shirt! Sounds easy? Well we were informed on our last visit that only ONE person had successfully completed this mammoth of a challenge.
For starters we tried the Crispy Onion Rings Stack with Spicy Marinara Sauce and their Signature Buffalo Wings with a Blue cheese dip. We can’t stress on how good those onions rings are, it was definitely our dish of the day! In fact we can guarantee you, once you try these rings out; they’ll definitely be the best you’ve ever had. Imported from Europe, these onion rings are super large and super crispy. The moment you bite into it the sound of the crunch is like music to our ears. The best part? They never get soggy. We took home a few and even after several hours they were as crunchy as they served it! (Don’t know how they do that). The Buffalo wings were delightful. Blue cheese and Buffalo wings is a match made in heaven – no doubt. So it was obvious that we would be dreaming about them way after our meal was over.
Surprisingly the starters didn’t fill us, in fact we were even more excited to try out our mains, and OH MY GOD the mains! We ordered the Kobe Meatloaf smothered in homemade ketchup glaze served with loaded mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy on the side. Needless to say that since Kobe meat was used, every mouthful tasted better and better, the ketchup glaze added the perfect sweetness and the mashed potatoes married the flavors very well. We also tried the “Blue Beast” burger filled with blue cheese, verjus mushrooms and cherry peppers. We feared that the blue cheese might over power the flavor of the burger itself but it didn’t. It was just the right proportion to give us that hint of blue cheese that made our mouths water – literally. We also had an option of sides, a choice between fries or coleslaw. We opted for the home made coleslaw and it tasted fresh and light.
We finally made it to dessert! And as suggested by our server, she vouched for their Signature Carrot Cake. Needless to say that unlike most carrot cakes, this wasn’t dry. In fact the raisins helped make the cake very moist and light. The portion of the carrot cake was generous enough to be shared among 3 to 4 people.
Top tip: Desserts are half price if you visit MO’s on weekdays between 15:00 & 19:00pm
We honestly feel Mo’s has stayed true to its vision of serving homely yet intricate American cuisine. With its prime location and unbeatable quality of food, Mo’s should without a doubt be your next rendezvous, be it for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner!
