We’ve heard a lot about the new mall opening up in JBR and we loved the concept! It’s more like an outdoor mall (although the heat got the worst of us) and the number of restaurants available to choose from is outrageous! So we decided to pick the occasion of Eid to go check it out. The place was buzzing and the restaurant that caught our attention was one which we’ve never come across anywhere in Dubai – Leopold’s of London.
A very chic and contemporary setup, Leopold’s of London is located in a prime spot facing the beach and its vast outdoor seating will be a huge crowd pleaser once the weather tones down a few degrees. The moment we entered we were attracted like magnets to the display of their cakes beautifully displayed at the entrance. To be honest, we already decided what we wanted for dessert.
Once we were seated and presented with the menu the variety seemed rather less, nevertheless the menu grabbed our attention. As usual, we asked our server what she would recommend and we’re so glad we decided to go her way.
We ordered the Slow Roasted Tomato and Red Capsicum Soup with Stracciatella. It was wholesome and hearty, something you would crave when you’re down with a cold and need something warm. Although we personally felt it could do with a bit more seasoning.
We also ordered the Leopold’s Lasagna which is basically a Lasagna of Braised Beef Short-Rib and Comte cheese. This has got to be the BEST lasagna we’ve had in a long long time! What sets this lasagna apart is that traditionally lasagna is made with minced beef; this had chucks of juicy and tender beef short-ribs that just melted in our mouths. It wasn’t too heavy and we just couldn’t get ourselves to stop devouring it.
We also had to try one of their signature pizzas baked in their own stone ovens. Our server vouched for the Barbecue Chicken Pizza, and being one of our favorite options, we didn’t hesitate to order one. Topped with mild peppers and locally smoked scamorza cheese, this pizza is a total WIN! The crust was crispy and had the perfect thickness, the chicken with the Barbecue sauce was cooked to perfection! No wonder it’s their most popular pizza.
For our favorite bit, the desserts, we decided to go three-way! We ordered the Lemon Cheesecake with Seasonal Berries, the Date Cake with Salted Caramel Cream Cheese, and Melting Moments. The cheesecake was luscious and refreshing without being too heavy, although it didn’t have quiet enough of the tart lemon flavor that we were expecting.
The Date Cake was divine! It was more of a pudding than a cake. The quality of dates (Medjool dates) used made the cake very moist; the sweetness of the dates coined with the saltiness of the cream cheese was a perfect combination.
The Melting Moments (a sandwich of biscuits with buttercream and jam in the centre) was light and airy, but we found it to be a little dry. We also felt the Melting Moments could do with a bit more jam and buttercream to make it seem more moist.
All in all, we were absolutely pleased with dinner. We would recommend this to anyone looking forward to warm are delicious food. The service was brilliant, with servers present almost everywhere ready to greet us and recommend their personal favorites to us.
Unfortunately this is their only branch opened Dubai as of now. But they’re expected to open another branch in CityWalk soon.
PS, WhereMyFoodAt wishes you and your family Eid Mubarak! May you have a joyous and blessed one 🙂 #HappyFeasting
