To kick start our Eid weekend we headed to a recently launched but already buzzing restaurant called Crab Tavern. The name speaks for itself, this restaurant knows how to excel in crabs, and it sets a perfect atmosphere for getting comfortable and messy eating crabs the way it should be eaten!
The service was brilliant. Waiters and restaurant managers pacing up and down the entire place making sure everyone’s happy. The servers were super friendly in helping us decide what to order and what the restaurant specializes in.
For starters, we tried the Crispy Fried Calamari served with a delicious Aioli. Calamari was light and not too heavy and seasoned perfectly.
We also tried the boneless Barbeque ribs, which our server swore by, saying it was one of the best appetizers they serve. He wasn’t wrong. The ribs were sticky, tender and packed full of flavor. We loved it so much, we wanted to order another portion for mains too.
For our mains however, being at Crab Tavern, we just had to try their crabs. We ordered the Soft shell Crab Burger and the Singaporean Crab. The burger was juicy and crunchy at the same time. The soft shell crab had an amazing texture and tasted really fresh, however it lacked a delicious sweet and spicy sauce which we felt would’ve elevated the dish a bit more. The Singapore Crab was a beautifully cooked piece of crab cooked spicy tomato gravy. Make sure to get your hands dirty for this one, else you won’t enjoy eating it.
Moving on to desserts, luckily for us we weren’t stuffed with appetizers and mains (being seafood); hence we opted for two desserts. We tried the Brownie Stack, which is two dense and gooey pieces of brownie stacks together and served with salted caramel ice-cream. It was definitely a winner! We also tried the Pecan and Maple Pie served with Vanilla Ice-cream. We loved the flavor of pecan, maple and vanilla; and how they married together perfectly on the dish. However we do feel the pecans were a bit too chunky and it would’ve tasted a lot better if they were chopped up into the pie.
All in all it was a beautiful experience. For a restaurant that is barely two weeks old, Crab Tavern is buzzing! We loved the vibe and the ambience. We loved the beautiful view of the Marina and of course the food was a definite win. We will definitely come back to try out more of what Crab Tavern has to offer.
