Restaurant Review – Sass Cafe

Our latest tasting session at the much raved about restaurant called Sass Cafe; we couldn’t quite make up our minds on what we loved more, the brilliant ambience or the scrumptious food! One thing is for sure though; this restaurant isn’t worth just a onetime visit. Be it for the classy vibe, the breathtaking live performances or the delicious food, Sass Cafe will definitely be seeing us again in the near future for sure!
DSC_3248DSC_3119With the dim lighting, red-centric ambience, comfortable low seating and soothing music, once we came to terms with how beautiful this restaurant is, we started glancing at our food menu.
DSC_3103DSC_3126We tried out the early bird menu for Dhs195 per person, where each person gets a choice of one entrée, one main course and one dessert each.
For the Entrée we tried the delicious Beef Carpaccio (thinly sliced raw beef) with sun dried peppers and Dijon mustard mayonnaise. It was a clever combination of flavors and (being meat lovers ourselves) it was evident that good quality beef was used.
We also tried the absolutely refreshing Scottish Salmon Tartar (fresh raw Salmon with seasoning) with avocado, cream fresh and black rice crackers. Loved the play of textures with the crackers and the taste of the salmon was to die for!
For Mains we opted for the Grilled Fillet of Sea Bass with Mediterranean vegetables and garlic. The Sea Bass was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was delicious yet not too over powering making the flavor of the sea bass shine.
We also tried the absolutely delicious ( Our Dish of the Day!) Angus Short Ribs which have been braised for 12 hours making it extremely tender and melting in your mouth. It is served with watercress, sun dried tomatoes and a delicious truffle polenta that wraps up the flavors of the entire dish perfectly.
Finally, for dessert we had the deliciously creamy and thick Classic Crème Brûlée. It was light, perfect in consistency and had a perfect hint of vanilla. The subtle crack of the crystallized sugar was music to our years, the custard was silky smooth and we absolute loved the fact that real vanilla bean was used! Perfection in every bite
We also tried the Baked Cheesecake with a Morella Cherry Foam and Sorbet. Loved the contrasting flavors of the tartness coming from the cherry foam and the creaminess coming from the cheesecake, making it a very pleasant dessert.
Throughout our meal we were thoroughly satisfied. From the attentive hosting to the impeccable live entertainment. It all added up, making it a memorable dinner. We highly recommend Sass Cafe if you’re looking for a celebratory Lunch or Dinner with family and friends. We are more than certain that Sass Cafe will ensure it will be a meal you will never forget.
