Restaurant Review – Jones The Grocer

Let’s face it; no one does gourmet food better than Jones The Grocer. How something can taste so delicious and healthy at the same time is beyond us. And that’s why we were more than thrilled to be a part of the Media Event where Jones The Grocer launched their new menu focusing on healthy wholesome food with a whole new level of refined flavors.

At the event, we were refreshed, the food started rolling out. Keep in mind that we were served “tasting” portions for our courses, however when ordered separately, the portions are huge! Our first three courses was a gluten free Fusilli salad with Buratta, grilled eggplant and zucchini, chili, basil and rocket pesto. The pasta tasted light, the eggplant and zucchini were cooked until extremely soft and the Buratta added creaminess to the dish. The olive oil round up the flavors of the components in this dish and let each ingredient shine through.

Our second course was a Seared Sea bass on soba noodles and bok choy pickled daikon, chili, nori, cashew and yuzu ponzu. We love Asian twists in dishes and loved this one in particular. Needless to say, the sea bass was cooked to flaky-perfection with crispy skin. But what stood out about this dish was how each ingredient played a vital role in making this dish taste delicious. We loved the textural element of the nori and the crunch from the cashews. We honestly wished we were not served “tasting portions” of this dish and rather the actual portions because this dish was that good.

Our third dish we sampled, and best of them all, was the Crispy Duck leg confit on braised lentils with beef bacon, kale and roasted parsnips. The duck was cooked just the way we like, with the skin being perfectly crispy and the meat being pink on the inside. The lentils were cooked al dente and were not too mushy. We loved how the lentils were cooked with beef bacon that added a smoked flavor to the dish which is such a win!

To wrap up our meal, we were presented with a dessert platter consisting of Chocolate Eclairs, strawberry and raspberry tarts, Lemon Meringue Pies, chocolate brownie and cheesecake.

Overall, we left our table feeling satisfied and content with our meal. We will definitely be coming back for more; because who doesn’t like a scrumptious healthy meal one in a while?
