Restaurant Review – Al Maeda

Located at the Double Tree – Hilton JBR, is what we would consider a hidden gem in Dubai that served some of the most delectable Middle Eastern cuisine. Al Maeda is a restaurant that serves an array of some traditional as well as contemporary Arabic cuisine. When we entered Al Maeda we were impressed by the large glass windows that lit up the entire restaurant. We also loved the mosaic tiles and rustic furniture that enhanced the vibe of Al Maeda.
Al Maeda serves a vast selection of Arabic cuisine, buffet style. The food is not only healthy and fresh, but packed with flavor and spices as well, making almost each and every component in this buffet very enjoyable. What we seemed to enjoy the most though was the salad section (which is very unlike us). We loved the variety and texture of almost all the salads we tasted and it left us feeling healthy and content.
Each main at the buffet had its own unique flair that distinguished itself from the rest. Our favorite, if we had to pick one, was the Seafood Harra Sauce with its punchy tomato gravy and generous serving of seafood cooked beautifully.
Among the desserts as well, we loved the traditional middle eastern sweets, especially the Kunafa with the sugar syrup that tasted crispy and absolutely gorgeous.
What we loved about the Al Maeda buffet is that although it is a “buffet” per se, you don’t end up feeling stuffed like most buffets make you feel. The food is light and healthy, but more importantly delicious, which is why we consider it – a hidden gem.
