Restaurant Review – This Is Hot Dog

We headed over to a very unique pit stop last week to try  out something we were really excited about. This Is HotDog is a cute little restaurant opened in JLT overlooking the beautiful lake. The interiors were rustic and it was quiet evident that there was a lot of attention to detail. A stand-alone hot dog shop will always get us excited, and This Is HotDog have definitely lived up to the mark of what delicious hot dogs should taste like. Not only are their hot dogs prepared fresh daily with 100% natural, grass fed beef at their centralized kitchen, but each hotdog is grilled to perfection on natural lava stone and has its own unique characteristic that makes it difficult for you chose and pick a favourite.DSC_5914DSC_5917
At our tasting at This is Hot Dog, we sampled the hotdogs and sandwiches that caught our eye the most. We began with a Japanese Hot Dog, Yes! Japanese! The hotdog contained a deliciously grilled beef hotdog with sweet fresh mango on alfalfa leaves and crunchy lettuce with a smooth wasabi mayo, Japanese sauce and gentle ginger pickle. What we loved about this hotdog was that it was more on the sweeter side, and the toppings all went perfectly well together. The micro herbs as a garnish add to the crunch of the hotdog and wasabi mayo provides a slight heat. We are definitely ordering this one again when we’re back!
Another hotdog we tried was the Chilli Con Carne which is a spicy chili and chip sticks laid on velevery cheedar cheese and thick mayo sauce. The chilli adds the perfect mild heat and flavor accompamiment to the hotdog and the cheese balances the flavors out. Definitely a winner!
We were also told that apart from the hotdogs, the brisket sandwiches were definitely something we had to try. At This Is HotDog, the briskets are tenderized on low temperature for 9 to 10 hours. The brisket meat is placed in specialized ovens where it cooks in its own juices to keep the texture soft and maintain a unique flavor. We opted or the BBQ brisket with cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce. The brisket was unbelievable tender and the BBQ flavor added a nice punch to the dish. The bread was fresh and soft and soaked all the juices up, making us salivate with every bite.
For dessert, we were treated to a serving of Homemade Cheesecake. The cheesecake was presented in a cute small maison jar and had layers of biscuit crumb, fresh silky smooth cheesecake over it and a blueberry compote. It was delicious, gluten free and definitely worth the calories!
We also noticed that This Is HotDog had Chocolate Fondant on their menu, and we couldn’t not order it. The Chocolate Fondant comprised of delicious Belgium Chocolate served with sweet caramel sauce and natural vanilla icecream. The fondant oozed out perfectly and did not taste too heavy.
