Restaurant Review – Ultra Brasserie

With weather like this, its no wonder we’re always tempted to stroll by the beach or walk along the streets of Dubai. The marina, being one such location that is really turning out to be popular this year. A few weeks ago, we happen to pass by the Marina Plaza which is a corporate building that is relatively quiet during the weekends (a bonus for us since we’re not big fans of noise) and there is also the additional bonus of the beautiful view of the marina.
Tucked in a corner of the Marina Plaza lies a cozy and effortlessly decorated bistro that goes by the name of Ultra Brasserie.
Healthy cafes are a popular demand in Dubai these days, and Ultra Brasserie is one such place.
We started off with our drinks as usual. The freshly squeezed “Heart Beet” juice was definitely refreshing. It is a blend of beetroot, carrot, pear, apple, lemon and ginger. We also had the Strawberry and Lemonade Smoothie which comprised of frozen strawberries, frozen bananas, cashew nuts, coconut water and lemon. We could taste the freshness in the fruits used and could instantly feel ourselves getting rejuvenated.
We then went on to ordering the Ultra SuperFood Salad. Filled with organic quinoa, lentils, kale, tomatoes, broccoli, nuts, blueberries and pomegranate dressing, this salad definitely ticks the boxes when it comes to healthy eating. We loved the portion size of this salad, felt it to be sufficient as lunch for two people and the combination of each ingredient went perfectly well together as well.
We also opted for the Poached eggs with smashed avocado, fresh ricotta and lime dukkah on bloomer. The eggs were cooked just as we had requested – runny, and the avocado tasted absolutely fresh and soft. We loved the addition of ricotta that enhanced the flavor of this dish. Definitely a highly recommended breakfast dish!
From the mains we sampled the homemade pappardelle with local prawns, cherry tomatoes, wild rocket and Napolitana salsa. Loved how the pasta was prepared in the kitchen and cooked perfectly al dente. The prawns were cooked perfectly as well and the sauce wrapped up the flavors of the dish very well.
To end our very healthy tasting session, we did so by sampling some of Ultra Brasserie’s healthy bars and slices. Our favorite definitely had to be the quinoa slice and the multigrain slice. It’s amazing how such a small slice can be soo deliciously healthy and fill you up at the same time. They go perfectly with coffee or tea, or just to snack on when you’re craving something sweet and want to be guilt free.
