Restaurant Review – Serendipity 3

It was probably about a couple of weeks before we stumbled upon one of New York’s most iconic eateries that has finally opened its doors to Dubai at Festival City which is its first overseas branch. Being featured in about three hollywood film’s and serving as one of the most popular tourist attractions in New York, you could understand our excitement when we discovered that we would be part of one of the largest Zomato sit-down meet ups at the one and only, Serendipity 3.
Ofcourse the food and desserts were something each and every blogger was raving about, but we will get to that in just a bit. However, we feel its highly important to stress on how good the “Frrrozen Hot Chocolate” really is. No, its not media hype or aesthetic appeal that has gotten this humble drink to gain worldwide attention, but in the sinfully delicious flavor itself that may seem impossible to you, but can easily make you finish an entire serving on your own. No help. Easily!
The Frrozen Hot Chocolate that had queues and queues of anxiously hungry chocoholics waiting to try them ever since the inception of Serendipity, comes in many flavors, ours favorite among them being the Peanut Butter and Double Frrozen Hot Chocolate.
You would be making the BIGGEST mistake of your life if visit Serendipity without trying the Hot Chocolate. Its that good.
During our Zomato Meet Up , we were lucky enough to try out some amazing and mouthwatering dishes.
The Empire State Onion Rings which is a stacked tower of onion rings sprinkled with romano cheese, and served with a ranch dressing and BBQ dip was crunchy and extremely thick.
The Mighty Mini Beef Sliders with melted american cheese tasted original and simple. The beef was cooked well, although there wasn’t anything spectacular about it
We also loved the Loaded Potato Skins with three different toppings of chilli cheese and guacamole, mozzarella and beef pepperoni and broccoli and buffalo chicken. Never tried potato skins that were this generously filled before. The buffalo chicken has that perfect spice and acidity that made it our favorite topping.
The “All In Nachos” too were a favorite at our table with half beef and sharp cheddar and half chicken and white cheddar. Although we found the nachos to be a bit soggy, the flavors definitely made up for it. Topped with guacamole, sour cream, pico di gallo (or salsa) and black beans, this appetizer is hard to miss.
The “All Hail Caesar” salad definitely stood out for us in terms of its giant croutons. A visually appealing salad indeed with clean flavors.
We also tried the very rustic Barbecue and Cheddar Pizza topped with grilled red onions and barbecue sauce. The thickness of the crust was perfect, and the sauce was sweet and drenched the crust perfectly.
The Mac and Cheese drizzled with truffle oil and panko crust is bound to make you go weak in the knees. The cheese sauce had a perfect consistency and the truffle oil elevated the flavor of the pasta. The crust had the most beautiful texture that wrapped the dish up perfectly.
We also got to try the famous foot long hotdogs by Serendipity that got us pretty excited and ecstatic. We tried the NYC Hotdog with sauerkraut, yellow mustard and sweet pickle relish and the Texas Style Chilli Cheese Dog with sharp cheddar, green onions, mustard and diced onions. What we loved about these hotdogs were the perfect bun to meat ratio, and the quality of meat used which tasted premium.
The best part of course from our entire experience at serendipity were the desserts.
The “Carrot Cake” with butter pecan ice cream, white chocolate sauce, maple walnut and whipped cream was to die for! The flavor of the cake itself on its own was absolutely moist and rich, and the components of the dessert complemented it perfectly. The portion of this dessert is huge, hence it can easily be shared by two to four people.
We also adored the “Red Velvet” with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge and whipped cream that was sinfully and perfectly presented to make you gaze at it with gluttony. However, we honestly preferred the carrot cake better when it came to flavor.
The “Outrageous Banana Split” stuffed with six scoops of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream, hot fudge, caramel sauce, strawberry sauce, crushed peanuts and whipped cream gives you a mini stroke as it approaches your table. Although this split has no distinctive flavors, the ginormous portions of this dessert is perfect for large gatherings to gawk at. There is also a smaller “cowards portion” available if you happen to visit with a smaller group.
We ended our delectable tasting session by being awestruck by “Dubai’s Treasure Chest” that was presented to the foodie crowd. A completely edible four kg dessert that contains a chocolate chest, filled with Serendipity’s own ice creams, cookies, berries and cakes beautifully presented making it too good to destruct (we did so anyway). A perfect way of surprising a loved one on a birthday or anniversary. There is no way it cant “wow” you until your jaw drops.
