Our reviews on each stay will be comprehensive and honest; essentially hoping that through our experience, you can make an informed decision with regards to your next #Staycation

About Movenpick Hotels & Resorts:
Movenpick Hotels & Resorts is an international hotel management company, that represents its quality service and hospitality in 24 countries with 83 hotels worldwide. They specialize in business and conference hotels, as well as holiday resorts, all reflecting a sense of place and respect for their local communities. In UAE alone, the group hosts six hotels, of which all are nestled in Dubai.
We launched #WhereMyGetawayAt with a staycation at the beautiful Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach and honestly, with the kind hospitality and impeccable service provided, there couldn’t have been a better way.

About Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach:
Operating in Dubai for more than 6 years now, Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach is a casual, contemporary and chic 5 star hotel that reflects some of the best levels of service we’ve experienced.
Getting There:
– Via Taxi: You could use the Public Transport Taxi that are lined up at the airport (the hotel is approximately 30 minutes away from Dubai International Airport and 20 minutes away from Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport). The cost would come up to Dhs 120 approximately.
– Via Metro & Tram: This alternative is a cheaper however a much more delayed one. The airport has its own Metro Stations (Terminal 1 & Terminal 3), which will eventually lead you to Jumeirah Beach 1 Tram Station (the switch from Metro to Tram has to be done at Dubai Marina Metro Station).
– Via Airport Transfer Services provided by Movenpick: The most convenient option however is by using the transportation facilities provided by Movenpick itself to and from Dubai airports in luxury cars for Dhs 175 only. There are also designated Movenpick counters at the airports for your assistance. (prior booking with the hotel needs to be done, and the transfer services are complimentary for Executive rooms).
Negatives : The area (JBR) being one of the landmarks in Dubai is always busy. Hence, expect heavy traffic as you’re approaching near the hotel.

Whether you’re a tourist or a resident of the UAE, you can’t stay away from Jumeirah for too long. Which is why we feel Movenpick Jumeirah Beach is nestled in an ideal spot for a getaway. Not only is it easily accessible to both the airports, but it’s also at close proximity to the Metro and Tram Stations.
– Nearby Tourist Attractions include: The Walk JBR, The Beach Mall, The iconic Jumeirah Beach (one of the best beaches in Dubai), Reel Cinema (located on the beach with shows running until 3am), Dubai Marina Mall and the “Dubai Eye” which is a giant Ferris Wheel located on an individual island that is currently under construction.
– Convenient Stores Include: Nearby banks and money exchange (Al Ansari Exchange and Dubai Islamic Bank to name a few), 24 Hour Supermarket (European Star Supermarket etc), Pharmacies (Al Fattan Pharmacy, JBR Care etc).

Upon Arrival:
As we entered the lobby we were greeted by Thomas Renton, the Front Office Manger who guided us to the Executive Lounge for our check in (which was a quick and efficient process). Plus points for offering us drinks to quench our thirst while we waited for the check in process to be done with; these little details do matter. What’s an Executive Lounge? It’s a dedicated check in / check out and business services lounge that includes benefits such as breakfast, afternoon refreshments, evening drinks and canapés, transfer services to and from the airport and a lot more. The service at the Executive Lounge was faultless too.
Negatives: For a building with more than 20 floors, 3 elevators aren’t enough, Hence leading to a long wait.

Our Room:
Our stay was at the Executive Partial Sea View Room (with a choice of king or twin beds). With warm inviting tones and a beautiful view of the sea from our balcony, this room is comfort at its best. As we toured around our room we happened to stumble upon a Media Pack with the sweetest little welcome note, and tray full of chocolates. First impressions done right!
According to us, the best part about the entire room was the bathroom that is essentially divided into three sections – the rain shower cubicle, the toilet area and the luxurious bathtub. There is also a speaker in installed in the bathroom that is connected to the TV; pretty cool. Overall, the bathroom was spacious, white, modern and not to forget extremely clean. Also, the bathroom has a window with foldable wooden shutters that overlook the bedroom. Although it’s aesthetically very pleasing, you have to know your partner pretty well to comfortably stay in one of these rooms.
Facilities offered in the room include : Air conditioning, a sitting area with teal colored sofas, LCD TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a minibar, complementary bottles of water, robes, slippers and toiletries. Not to forget the free complimentary wifi that was working perfectly throughout our stay.

Negatives : Utensils provided were worn out (discolored), Balcony furniture was not of best quality & the Television unit was pretty outdated for an executive suite.

The View:
Although they stated that the view would be a “partial” sea facing one, it was nevertheless serene! Other than the construction that was taking place at the beach, the calmness of the sea is something you can’t put a price on. Therefore, we highly recommend you waking up to this view!
Negatives: Construction at the beach
Afternoon Tea Room Service:
Who doesn’t love to be treated like royalty? And the Afternoon Tea room service that rolled up our door sure made us feel like a King and Queen. We were presented with a couple of Afternoon Tea stands adorned with a delectable selection of Swiss & English finger food. Words cannot describe the serenity of sitting on the balcony while watching the sunset and feasting on one of the best afternoon tea selections we’ve had.
To add to our present surprise, we were also gifted a bottle of complementary wine which was the icing on the cake!
Sport & Leisure:
The Pool: The room was warm and welcoming enough for us to just stay there the entire day and laze around. However, as we looked down our balcony, the pool tempted us enough for us to soak ourselves in. The swimming pool overlooks the Arabian water and has direct access to the Jumeirah public beach. Although, we were expecting the pool to be temperature controlled, which it was not and the cold temperature limited us from swimming for too long.
The Gym: Let’s face it. We aren’t the kind of couple to work out while holidaying unless we really need to. But that didn’t stop us from checking the gym out. What we loved about the gym was the glass walls that overlook the sea. The gym isn’t too big in size, however pretty well equipped.
The Spa & Wellness Centre: Shortage of time didn’t allow us to experience the spa services provided by Movenpick. However, while going through the extensive treatment menu filled with therapies, facials, beauty treatments, reflexology etc., we’re definitely going to pay another visit to try one of these out (our eyes are on the Aromatherapy)

Dinner at Soul:
After lazing around our room for a couple of hours, we then headed down for dinner to a New York Style eatery that has recently renovated its menu to give you the feel of dining in a New York neighborhood. Read about our detailed experience in the “Reviews” section of our blog (or click here).

Breakfast at The Talk:
The breakfast buffet was held at The Talk Restaurant where fresh and wholesome food was prepared at interactive live cooking stations. The buffet is probably not one of the best breakfast buffets we’ve had; however it was sufficient enough to tame our hungry appetites. The selection of fresh juices and fruits was vibrant and refreshing. And the array of freshly baked breads, croissants and pastries looked delicious and tasted too. In particular, we loved the Organic Quinoa Omelette – found it very innovative. Not to forget, the fluffy pancakes with chocolate sauce tasted yum too, however if we had to nitpick, we wish there was Nutella to drizzle over it – would’ve been perfect!
Our Verdict:
It is true that no matter how many stars a hotel bags, or how fancy it’s reputed to be – if the service is poor, everything else is inconsequential. Having said that, the hospitality provided by Movenpick was nothing less than unimpeachable. It’s the tiny details like the continuous smiling facing of the staff, the attention to comfort and the general positivity provided by the hotel that wraps up into a perfect #Staycation. Do we recommend Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach? Hell yes.
Thank you Movenpick JBR for being a part of #WhereMyGetawayAt
