Restaurant Review – Azure

About Azure :
Al fresco dining at its best, Azure is a casual poolside restaurant and bar that is part of the Waldorf Astoria, Ras Al Khaimah and is inspired by the Mediterranean and the South of France. The vibe is perfect for a relaxing meal where one truly gets to appreciate true and simple Italian food at its best.

First Impressions:
We stepped into Azure for a quick bite after our tour around the Waldorf Astoria Hotel (RAK) and were pleasantly surprised at the simplistic beauty of the restaurant. Nothing impresses us more than enormous glass walls enabling natural light to shine through, and the buzzing atmosphere of the restaurant added to a very good first impression.
Our Meal:
For a wonder of wonders, we decided to go light and not order the entire menu like we usually do! (although we were tempted to). We started off with a Burrata and Tomato Salad with basil. If you are an avid WhereMyFoodAt reader, you will understand our passionate obsession for Burrata. Having said that, the Burrata Salad at Azure did not disappoint. It was airy, soft and fluffy and the quality seemed to be of high standards too.

For mains, we opted for the “Taste of Waldorf Astoria by Heinz Beck and David Posey” dish which comprised of celery root risotto with apple, hazelnut and black truffle. A very interesting twist on a classic risotto by using finely chopped celery root instead of rice. Did it work for us? Of course it did! Loved the crunch aided by the apples and the strong aroma of truffle that filled up our senses. A must have dish!
We also had the Caramelized Pork Ribs with Garlic Mashed Potato, Cream of Sweet Corn and Cranberry Sauce. The ribs we tender, soft and fell off the bone. The sweet and sticky glaze tasted rich and flavorful and complemented the pork meat brilliantly.

Finally for dessert, we ordered the Baked Cheesecake Sphere with Raspberry and Mango Compote. This dessert probably looked delicious but somehow didn’t tick the boxes for us when it came to taste or flavor. The combination of coconut, raspberry and mango didn’t work well for us and the consistency od the cheesecake was grainy too.
