Beach Club Review – Saadiyat Beach Club

Last weekend we headed down South to Abu Dhabi to spend our day at the charming Saadiyat Island and spoil ourselves with a “daycation” (if that’s a word) at Saadiyat Beach Club. We’ve been in awe of the splendor and charm of the beach club portrayed through pictures on social media, and we finally decided it’s time to for us to take pleasure in the magnificence of the property.

Getting There:
If you don’t fancy night outs away from home or staycations to a far off city, then we urge you to visit Saadiyat Beach Club where you can soak up the warm sun and rejuvenate your senses with a few quality hours of peace and relaxation. Saadiyat beach club is located on the Saadiyat Island that’s only a 15 minute drive away from the Abu Dhabi Corniche and a 1 hour drive from Dubai. It’s the perfect place to be if you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life.
First Impressions:
Upon entering the lobby, we were in instant admiration of the tranquility and serenity the Beach Club exuberated. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a magnificent view of the glistening pool that looked absolutely stunning against the sunlight. The staff were very attentive, friendly and kind enough to show us around the property.
– Relaxing by the Pool: It’s no doubt that the highlight of Saadiyat Beach Club most definitely has to be the spectacular outdoor pool that’s surrounded by eight beautifully set floating cabanas. There’s no greater joy than laying in your own private cabana all day while sipping on some refreshing drinks and indulging in occasional dips in the pool to beat the heat.
(PS: The private cabanas are available at an additional charge of AED 400/-)
– Walk Along The Beach: We decided to stroll a few steps afield to the 9km stretch of glistening white sandy beach. The private beach was calm and serene with subtle hums of waves crashing against the shore. Bliss! If you’re lucky, you might see some dolphins or turtles playing in the bay, as the club is part of a protected habitat where Hawksbill turtles have nested for countless years.
– Break a sweat at the Workout Room: The workout room is expansive and well equipped. What we loved about the workout room was the floor to ceiling glass doors that overlooked the garden and the beach. If that doesn’t drive you to workout, we don’t know what will! There are also personal trainers available on request.
– Indulge at the Spa: We loved the warm and soothing tones protruded by the spa that lets you indulge and sooth your senses with relaxing treatments and beauty therapies. If you don’t fancy therapies, simply enjoy a nice hot jacuzzi bath, a stimulating sauna, a session in the steam room or plunge pool, and you’ll come out feeling refreshed and revitalized.
Lunch at Safina:
After touring around the Beach Club, we ventured over to Safina – a Mediterranean restaurant that overlooks the beautiful pool and gardens. You have an option of sitting outdoors at the terrace where you can enjoy the calming sounds of the ocean, or indoors where you get to admire the chic and radical decor of the restaurant. Since the weather was a bit too warm for our liking, we decided to opt for indoors.
We started off with a Nicoise Salad that comprised of a beautifully pan seared tuna on pepper crust over a bed of greens and french beans and topped with olives, cherry tomatoes and quail eggs. We loved the citronette dressing that perfectly complemented all the ingredients. A very healthy yet delicious dish!
We also indulged in the Summer Breeze salad comprising mint marinated watermelon, feta cheese and caramelized pecan. A perfect option if you’re looking for something to cool you off the scorching heat. The saltiness of the feta complements the sweetness of the watermelon and candied pecans.
From the pasta section, we tried the Ricotta and Spinach Ravioli that was cooked perfectly, but tasted average. We also tried the Corn Fed Chicken Breast as part of our main course that was stuffed with tomato and mozzarella and served with truffle mash potato on the side. The chicken was cooked well, generously stuffed and absolutely juicy.
The highlight of our entire meal would definitely have to be the Valrhona Chocolate Fondant served with star anise pear puree and vanilla gelato. It’s rare for us to absolutely demolish and devour an entire chocolate fondant cake within seconds, but we did just that. The fondant was perfectly gooey and not too sweet. Perfect!
