Restaurant Review – Sapori Di Bice (Easter)

This review definitely got us excited! A couple of days ago we visited Sapori Di Bice to sample their limited Easter set menu. Located in the gorgeous City Walk, Sapori is a beautiful spot that screams Italian, from the wood fire oven churning out delicious pizzas to the bakery section serving up mouth watering gelato.
We were lucky enough to speak to the Head Chef Marco and learn the thought behind the menu and what inspired him.

To start off our 4 course menu, we had the ‘Insalata Pasquale con Radicchio, Rucola Asparagi e uova sode, aromatizzate con aceto balsamico servita in cestino di sfoglia’. While that seems like a lot os italian, it is basically a Easter inspired summer salad with rucola, boiled eggs, asparagus tossed in Balsamic and served in a cute pastry nest. The salad was delicious and fresh while the punch of the balsamic was beautifully balanced.

For our next course, we had the Fettuccine Casereccie con Ragu di Agnello alla Toscano e fave. Chef had mentioned how lamb plays a big part of Easter in Italy, and this was his inspiration behind the dish. Homemade Fettuccine tossed in a delicious tender melt in your mouth lamb Ragu and Fava Beans, definitely our dish of the day!

For mains, we were served a generous portion of Grilled Beef Filet over a bed of Saffron Potato Puree and Foie Gras sauce. First impressions definitely were that the dish was too simple and boring, however it was rather pleasant. The smooth mash and the blobs of Foie Gras sauce definitely elevated the beef. If anything, the protein was a tad over cooked for our liking.

Finally, Dessert! Upon seeing the dessert menu at first it’s safe to say that many would not think it would be anything spectacular. However, our first bite of the Classica Pastiera Napoletana Servita con Sorbetto al Lampone which in plain English is a classic Neapolitan Pastiera Pie made of whole wheat and spiced ricotta cheese, popular in south of France, one bite of the pie and you will be instantly hooked as we were.

No plans for Easter? Or rather you’re looking for some good old Italian grub, This entire menu (4 courses) is priced at Dhs178pp, however, if you fancy trying one a particular dish, they have a la carte too!
